My First Sketch Entry – SIP Challenge 50

Hello everyone!

So the last couple of weeks I have been researching on what sketches were, how they are used, and anything else I could learn about them. I had entered one before, but I wasn’t really into it at the time and I was still learning a lot of techniques.

Out of my research I found that the one greatest thing is being able design cards a lot easier. Duh, I mean who wouldn’t have thought of that right?  I have always looked at sketches, but always saw everyone’s outcome and it intimidated me.

So after finding Jk Cards through Twitter/Instagram, he let me know he puts sketches up weekly at Stamp Ink Paper and that I should give it a try.

So I did.

Here is the sketch he provided:

And here is my result:

For this card I used the Lawn Fawn “Mermaid for You” stamp set.  I colored my mermaids hair with copic markers, along with the rock, seaweed and coral piece. For the tail, I put a coat of multi-media matte glue down and then sprinkled with some glitter I had on hand. Then I die cut each piece.

I cut some blue cardstock (not sure of the brand) and then cut a smaller piece of the “Under the Sea” from Doodle Bug. I then cut out a piece of vellum with a Lawn Fawn stitched circle die, and heat embossed the sentiment with The Ton’s wonderful rose gold embossing powder. It truly is amazing in person. I placed this on a Neenah Solar White 110lb top folding card base.

I then finished this off with some Pretty Pink Posh rain droplets and added some shimmer to the mermaids hair with Spectrum Noir‘s clear glitter pen.

I hope you enjoyed this card! Have a great week!

Ricky
