My Favorite Things Store Visit

Hello everyone!

I hope you enjoyed my cards that I created and shared over at Stamp, Ink, Paper.  It was a good time being a guest designer there and I hope they invite me back soon!

While I was guest designing I also was on vacation.  I started making cards a little over a year ago and have gotten to know lots of people in the paper crafting community.  Unbeknownst to me, the My Favorite Things store is located 1.5 hours away from where I lived in Florida.

So of course while I was there I HAD to visit the store. My friend Gigi and I got in the car and drove there.  I have to say the store is very impressive.  Big, full of amazing items, but just as important full of amazing workers! I WANTED ALL THE STUFF!

I was so excited to be there I had to take a picture with the crew that was there!

I enjoyed my time there and was super jealous of their crafting area! Maybe one day I will work my way to being on the creative team over at My Favorite Things!

Check out this amazing store front they had as well!

Stamp, Ink, Paper Challenge #71

Hi everyone!  By the time you read this post, I will have left California, went back to Chicago, flying to Florida and then back to Chicago!  I was super busy this month traveling but through the magic lens of the internet, I was able to work on these cards early and get them done before my travels!

This weeks challenge is:

And here is my card!

This card may be a little off from the challenge, but these were the closest colors I had for it! Yikes! I am pretty sure it is close enough!  The lighting doesn’t really help it I believe. As a crafter we never have everything we need when we need it huh?  Anyway, I used the Lawn Fawn Bow dies to make three different sizes of bows.  Then I used a Simon Says Stamp “Thanks” die and stacked that three times on top of one another.  I then used the Lawn Fawn stitched oval die.  The rust colored one is glued to the card base which is a ivory color.  The mustard is attached using 3D foam tap.  The bows are attached using glue dots!

I hope you have enjoyed this weeks card! I have enjoyed playing along with the challenges this month and have enjoyed being a part of the design team.  I hope I am asked to join along again sometime soon!

Stamp, Ink, Paper Challenge #70

Hello everyone!  I am still in California writing this blog.  We just have gone through a really bad rain storm here.  It rained a lot. There is also a chance that snow might keep me from getting home to Chicago.  SNOW!  Can you believe it?

This weeks challenge is Tic Tac Toe:

I decided to go with Leaves, Sparkle and Orange:

I used the Lawn Fawn leaves die to cut out all the leaves in craft paper, gold glitter paper, and orange paper.  I used the Lawn Fawn “wordy stamps” and dies to make the hello.

The gold leaves are attached with 3D foam. The others are glued on with runner tape.  The card is simple and thought it was missing something.  My friend Melinda pointed out that the “hello”s are actually falling like leaves.  After she said that, I knew the card was complete.

I hope you enjoy this week’s card and I look forward to next! Have a great week!

Stamp, Ink, Paper Challenge #69

Hi everyone!  I am in California on vacation but I needed to make sure I made this entry for the new challenge.  The weather here is amazing! 70’s during the day 50’s a night.  Sleeping with the windows open just feels fantasmerrific.  What makes it so amazing, is not hearing a train or police card drive by your house.  It is silent, dead silent here.

Anyway, this weeks challenge was “Fall Into Love”.  My card isn’t very “fall” like but it definitely speaks love!

And here is my card:

I started with making my own background.  I used a background stamp from Hero Arts.  I stamped with blue, then yellow, and then gray.  It made very interesting pattern.  I then used Brusho to make the square panels that are located on the card.  The heart and the lightning strike die cuts are from Tim Holtz.  I used a silver metallic paper for the strikes.  I then used the Lawn Fawn script works die cut for “Love Ya”.  Then stamped it with VersaMark & then used silver heat embossing powder.  The square panels are raised with 3-D foam.  Everything else is attached with regular adhesive.

I hope you enjoy this weeks card!

Thank you,

Ricky

Stamp, Ink, Paper Challenge 68

Hi everyone! First I want to thank the Stamp, Ink, Paper design group for inviting me on to be a guest designer for October!  I am excited and hope to bring some great ideas!

I probably will become a card making machine soon.  Chicago gets cold and no one wants to go outside during that time! Let’s hope for a “warm” winter!

This weeks challenge was a card makers choice!

and here is my card!

I decided to do some die cutting.  Wow, I cut a lot of flowers, didn’t even use 1/4 of them on this card.  I used My Favorite Things (MFT) stitched flower dies to make them.  I used random card stock pieces that I had laying around.  The pattern paper is from MFT as well.  For the ovals I used the Elizabeths Craft Designs set I purchased at the stamp convention. The sentiment is from MFT.  I didn’t get a good impression, but imperfections are what makes a card special right?

I hope you enjoy my first card as a guest and will talk with you soon!
