Iris Folding Card

I learned a new technique yesterday by visiting a local craft store that is here in the Chicago area. It seemed very interesting. The older women at the craft store were so lovely and showed me this technique.

While this is not a stamped image card, I do like it. I hope you enjoy. I named it after my friend Cassie in Florida. It was made with iris folding and I finished it off with some foam tape behind it and some distressed ink.

Mojo Monday Entry #429

So this is my very first entry into a blog challenge.  I decided to go with Mojo Monday.  It is a neat concept.  They give you the layout of a card, and you use our supplies to make it.  It is nice to see this as I have had trouble with coming up with layouts for my cards. You will have to excuse my brief list below in products used as I am getting used to writing things down as I go.

On this card I used 110lb Neenah Solar White Card stock as the base. There is also textured pink card stock glued on that.  I used Memory Box stitched dies to make the circles.  I heat embossed the word “Love”.  That stamp is from the Paper Smooches “Word Salad” stamp set.  The paper is what I have in my stash, and I don’ recall the names.  Black and white polka dot washi tape.  Behind that is black card stock.  I glued buttons that I purchased from Michael’s and Spare-Parts from The Paper Source.  After looking at the card I decided to add faux stitches on the black card stock using a Uni-Ball Signo Broad white ink pen.

I hope you enjoy!

First Posted Cards

I am pretty proud of todays card. I drove to my local craft store and I was looking for something that was just a little different.  I needed some paper that really popped.  Paper that I would have been ashamed to cover with any other paper, so I found it. It is a washi paper. I am sorry I am not sure of the brand name.

I placed that on top of a navy blue card stock. Then layered it with a light purple which I die cut with a large stitched rectangle from Lawn Fawn. The pattern paper is die cut using the small stitched die cut rectangle also from Lawn Fawn.

I adhered all of those to the card in layers.  The heart is a die cut by Tim Holtz. I die cut 12 white hearts out of some heavy card stock, and the 4 gold hearts our of gold foiled (mirrored) paper. I then glued three white hearts stacked on top of one another. Then added the gold heart on top.  I glued that down to the pattern paper.  Using that many die cuts brings some dimension to the heart.

Last I gold embossed the word love from the Word Salad Stamp set from Paper Smooches. I adhered the final card base to some Neenah 80 lbs card stock.

I hope you enjoy these cards and let me know what you think!

My Crafting Adventure

MeThis is my little hello to the crafting world. I am pretty new to this whole scene, but I can’t wait to get more involved.  I will be working on blog posts of cards I have made and will be making.  I would like to try and do videos of instruction as well.
